Leverage points are places to intervene in complex social-ecological systems where a small intervention in one thing, can lead to big changes in everything (see Meadows work for this!)
Despite global efforts, the current trajectory of our planet is unsustainable – hindered by the difficulty to identify and foster the transformative potential of social-ecological systems.
This website is a hub to bring together the bright minds working on leverage points. Together, we have the power to foster change!
FAQs
What is meant by “Leverage Points”?
Leverage points are places to intervene in complex social-ecological systems where a small intervention in one thing, can lead to big changes in everything (see Meadows work for this!)
Where do we see the potential of the Leverage Points concept?
The leverage points perspective can serve as a bridging concept between the various scientific communities and disciplines that deal with climate action concerns but are fragmented and follow different epistemological and methodological approaches (see Riechers et al., 2021).
What is the DFG-Network “Leverage Points for Climate Action”?
The DFG-Network aims to provide a platform for discussing insights on the conceptual and empirical state of research on leverage points to counter climate change from different disciplinary perspectives by focusing on the three realms of leverage of re-structure, re-connect and re-think.
The Network is lead by Maraja Riechers (Thünen Institute, Rostock) and Jan Petzold (Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität, Munich).
How does the DFG-Network “Leverage Points for Climate Action” work?
Within the network, several young researchers from multiple research fields work together in a series of three Workshops carried out within 18 months in Munich, Rostock and Eberswalde.
